Why do I need to have my horses teeth checked?

For a content horse who is happy in their work, free and painless movement of the head is paramount. It is essential that the horse has good anterior/posterior movement and lateral excursion of the lower mandible across the maxilla in order to eat successfully, get the maximum nutrition possible from his food and to be able to respond to riding aids free from restriction, discomfort and/or pain.

Balancing and rasping the horses teeth can greatly improve the quality of your horses life, by way of removing sharp points on the upper arcades (which can injure the cheeks whilst the horse chews), hooks, ramps, sharp edges on the lingual sides of the molar arcades(next to the tongue)and generally making sure that your horses teeth are working as they should and not causing discomfort or restriction in any way.
